Ramen - A Short Film by Jeremiah Justice

Ramen is a short film I created while studying at Vancouver Film School in downtown Vancouver, BC. The purpose of this project was to create a short film from start to finish by myself with critique and guidance from my instructors, who are veterans of the animation industry. Over eight months, I created the original story, animatic, animation, color and effects under a tight production deadline. It was a lot of fun to make and I hope for the opportunity to make more animation in the future.

Entrance To Eggworld

While working on my film, I came up with the idea for Eggworld where Youko falls into and sees eggs everywhere. I needed a good transition scene from the real world to egg world and this shot came up. After a bit of editing I came to a great fx / acting piece.

First stage on the way to animating this scene was to think about how I wanted the shot to work. Overall it was a pretty straight forward shot as far as acting and FX.

Few changers were made from the blocking to rough, ignoring the character animation until I could decide what I wanted eggy to do.

Some notes were made towards eggy’s face and the way he floated, as well as adding more fx and ramen to add detail to the shot.

The final clean line was then added for the final finished film.

Last thing to do was color and compositing! So here’s the final scene!

This was a super cool shot to do and very satisfying to do and a great shot to add to my portfolio.
